Self,

I am 32 as of this day! I flew home from DC, did some shopping for an impromptu birthday movie night. There was four of us and we watched "Babylon AD"..mostly for it's star Vin Diesel -the half naked scene of him was basically worth it - and also "Jackie's Back" staring Jenifer Lewis. I enjoyed myself greatly, so did my fellow celebrants.

I'll admit I was kind of disappointed that certain people didn't show up. Granted it was kind of last minute so I'm not too upset about it either. However, there's two that irks me most. 1 is a long time friend/brother who didn't even take the time to say he wasn't going to attend (for that matter even acknowledge that he got the invite - but so be it.)

The other is a friend who has told me a bold face lie saying I never invite him to do anything at my house when I do things with my friends. This is probably about the fourth or fifth time I invited him to any "party" I've hosted since I've moved in to my current apartment two years ago. And he has not attended any, and it is at least the second invite he got since he made that statement. (The other was the brunch I hosted last month around Christmas.) His reason for not attending movie-night was the sex session he was suppose to have but was stood-up, along with not wanting to drive. I can't be too upset about him wanting to get a little nookie - truth is I would have liked some too - so I told him I didn't want my birthday standing in the way of him getting some, but after he knew the dude wasn't coming he could have tried to come hang out then. I'll probably be made out to be the bad guy in this....somehow I usually am.

Anyway on to Happier topics. I got plenty of wonderful birthday wishes today. They are all near and dear to my heart, but here's a couple that stood out;
This first one was a text that read.

"I wish you many financially abundant, body shaking sex, good food eating, divine alcohol drinking, and world traveling [filled] birthdays to come."

I just love it...it encompasses all the elements of a grown and sexy individual such as myself and sentiments that can be carried all year long! Sadly this birthday missed the body shaking sex (as has many others in the past,) but since part of my birthday was spent in Washington DC, I'll claim it as part of that traveling clause even though I was still on domestic soil! lol.

Then there's the text message from the potential suitor who did the math to send me a birthday message from California to me in DC timing its arrival at midnight Eastern Standard Time, in order to be the FIRST birthday greeting of the day.

This last birthday wish comes from another potential suitor who I have not yet met face to face. We were suppose to meet when I was in New York (where he lives,) but it didn't happen. We've been exchanging text messages and phone calls pretty regularly. He called me while I was in DC from NYC, to wish me a happy birthday shortly after midnight. Throughout the day there were several phone calls to each other. All of which he referenced my birthday including taking my call at 6am while I was sitting in Dulles airport waiting for my flight back to California. He was half sleep, but he tried to keep me company for a while. All his calls put a smile on my face and added more cheer to my day including his call at 11:59pm with the intent of being the last voice I heard on my birthday wishing me a happy one. TOO SWEET! *SIGH* Yes, I'm finding myself liking the sound of his voice and the conversations we have. Earlier in the evening he said he wanted to be the last voice I heard of the day, and for all intent and purposes he succeeded. I had forgot that he said it so I was pleasantly surprised when I received the call, so 20 points for the follow through. Let's see if he follows through on the birthday "gifts" I requested of him nearly a week ago. (No, I didn't request anything materialistic that would make him spend money, just a couple things I asked him to do. I had to throw that in there so I wouldn't end too sappy. lol!)
