Self,
...And by big I mean extreme!
The other day on the news I saw this clip....and was floored.
Get into it! God is Good. Does pole dancing to gospel music count as being sactified? Not judging, just asking.
Hey if they keep this up, we might actually get to a point where being gay is okay too.
Sincerely,
Pharoah
PS. To my Texans....I'm sorry but they did it!

Humanity
Self,
Earlier I mentioned that I've fallen back in to the habit of watching TV regularly again. As I said there is a rather long list of shows that I've been watching. One of which is "Being Human." It's on the SyFy channel. The story is three people living together 2 guys and a girl. (revers three's company) but the catch is 1 guy is a vampire (Aidan -who I think is kinda sexy) the other guy is a werewolf (Josh) and the girl is a ghost, (Sally).
They live together trying to carve out a piece of "life" for themselves that is normal...while most of that seems to be about the human elements of their lives.
I'll admit it's not totally original...it's an adaptation of a series that's running on the BBC ....lol better so far since there's no bloody accents!
All three hate that they are "monsters." There even some scenes where they argue who is the bigger monster with the more f*cked up life. Aidan (like those of the "Twilight" series,) is a vampire that doesn't want to feed on people. So he gets blood from the hospital where he and Josh works. Aidan is in a way the center of the show because he's over 200 years old, so he seen alot. He's at odds with the other vampires in the city, so he constant having to defend his position, and then there the fact that he is fighting his own "nature."
The writing for this show is really good, I actually feel something for this characters....almost as if they may be friends of mine. Crazy huh?
Sincerely,
Pharoah

Silver Fox
Self
Picture it: 2011, Florida - Miami - Club Twist.
So I've walked the club devoured the eye candy that was present and available and have kinda settle into a corner with my second beer and just people watching. My soul-brother-#1, Prince Esquire (I'm not ranking my soul-brothers n degree of importance, it's just that he's the first we met when we were 4,) and his girlfriend, Lady X, have found me and are standing next to me, chatting among themselves.
So this group of guys walk by and I notice that the last man in the group is a bit longer in the tooth then the ones that are ahead of him...and he's holding the hand of the one nearest to him. It was kinda cute to see that these two seemed to be a happy couple and I let them pass and moved on to the next group of bypassers. Then there was another older patron in the club, and I realized that I had seen quite a few older guys in the club that night.
I kind of chuckle to myself and shake my head and take another sip of my beer. Prince Esquire noticed and asked me about it. I tell them how I have noticed a number of older guys in the club that night. and that they hve my permission to shoot me if in my 50's or 60's I even suggest going to the club. Lady X laughed and said she'll remind me of that after we've all showed our ID to the bouncer and hobble in on our walkers.
I laughed and started to turn back to watch the crowd and take a sip of my beer. Out of the blue someone clinks a glass against my bottle spilling some of the glass contents on my hand. As I shake the liquid off my hand I turn to see this older man smiling. Now I'm a little anoid that my hand is wet, but I brushed it off since it was his drink and not mine. But I found it extremely ironic that no sooner did I talk about not wanting to be an old man in the club, that this "Silver fox" as Prince Esquired as dubbed him had approached me.
He started the conversation off by asking if I was gay...(in my head I'm like "HELLO...I'M IN A GAY CLUB.") However, I politely confirm my gay membership.) ...which he felt the need to question two more times. (LOL I know I look all manly and butch and shit, but really, when a man says he's gay you should believe him.)
Anyway he moved on to asking about my racial background and where I'm from. When I told him Los Angeles, he proceeded to tell me that he had attended UCLA and had met members of the group Lincoln Park during that time. He asked if I had heard their latest CD. When I said I had not, he stated that I was being ignorant for not having done some because he loved the cd and thought it is their best ever. OK now wait...ignorant? Yeah I'm intelligent enough to have instantly understand that what he was trying to convey was the idea of being exposed to new things. However...1 he should have came up with a better way to express it and more importantly 2) he was making the statement without fully determining what was my exposure level. But I'm a trooper and didn't over react and continued with the conversation.
"As I said it's my favorite. I have the cd at my house, you are welcome to come over and listen to it. No sex, unless you want me to fuck you." (REALLY???)
Aside from the fact that in a creepy sort of way he reminded me of my actual father while looking old enough to possibly having a child my age, he hadn't won enough brownie points to seal that deal.
I declined, he hugged me like three times and walked away.
I finished my beer and we left.
Sincerely,
Pharoah

From the Window to the Wall?
Self,
So as recently I've been hearing from some guys from an online profile I have. Most of the conversations have been online...some have progressed to more personal communications.
I've been chatting with this one kat lol for maybe a week...if that. He asked me to spend a my weekend as a volunteer in some capacity at the Long Beach Grand Prix, with the incentive that I would get to spend time with him. (although we haven't even met yet.) Not a bad I idea but I wasn't about to tie-up my whole weekend on someone I hardly know on short notice. However he explained that the event isn't until mid April and I told him I'll think about it.
Today though he sent me a message about having some dream about me where the cops came to our house for some domestic dispute where he went to jail and I ended up in the hospital (he don't know that he would be dead and I'll be in jail, but anyway). And when I recovered I realized how much I just loveded him and we made wild hot angry make up sex. And then he wanted to know how to make it a reality. Ok I'll give him a few points for some refreshing originality, so I told him it can't ever be a reality if he doesn't start by asking me out.
SO he asked me to meet him with some of his boys at a club and that it going to be a hetero club because he don't roll like that. and once we get a bit acquainted we can leave to go somewhere else.
OKAY, no I'm not a fan of meeting in a club (gay or straight) because it is usually load as fuck. How are you suppose to "get acquainted" in a place where you can't hear yourself think? Then you going to add into the mix that your boyz don't know that you are into dating men, so you aren't going to actually speak about yourself freely....this is your recipe for getting to know each other? REALLY?
I'll entertain the idea since it is suppose to be more of a professional networking event....so even if he ain't intriguing or engaging, maybe I can make some contact for my business and it wont be a waste.
Sincerely,
Pharoah

Gramps
Self,
Well my grandfather has been in the hospital for just about two weeks now. Yesterday, he was moved to the ICU and put on a respirator to help keep is lungs clear of blood and fluids....particularly until they figure out where the blood is coming from.
He looks SOOOOO frail and fragile.................So not the man of my childhood and memories.
Right now things aren't looking too good.
However I don't write this to acknowledge his demise. Instead I'm entwining my prayers and well wishes with those of my family (yours are welcomed and appreciated) so that this can be used to document the blessing of his pending recovery.
Love,
Pharoah

Competitive TV
Self,
I don't know if I've mentioned it however living at with my parents (with cable) has roped me back into watching television some what regularly. I won't dare exposed the long list of shows that I now indulge myself into watching on a weekly basis.
In recent years there has been a surge of a specific branch of "reality tv" that are televised competitions. No I don't mean game shows those have been on for years. I'm talking about shows like;
America's Next Top Model
American Idol
America Got Talent
So You Think You Can Dance
Live to Dance
Project Runway
RuPaul's Drag Race
Next Food Network Star
Top Chef
Chopped
Iron Chef
Best Dance Crew
LOL that was just the ones I could think of off the top of my head...and NO I don't watch them. Well I did watch one season of ANTM, (Mercedes should have won the season) an occasional episode of Idol, was drug into watching parts of the Drag Race, and will gladly sit through any of the cooking shows for the recipe.
Well another one has caught my attention and had just ended. The show aired on the Syfy (Sci-Fi) channel and is called Face Off. The idea was 12 special effects make-up artists were competing for $100,000. Some of the things those folks did were really good. It somewhat presented the same "awe" that I had with seeing the photos from Top Models.
LOL totally sick with it right!
Anyway I think you can check out Syfi for full online episodes.
Sincerely,
Pharoah

The Old Man and I
Self,
So last week when I was off, my father asked me to ride with him to the gas station so he can get gas for my mom's car. We're riding on the way to a station that's further than the one I thought would be our destination. Well let me clarify, I thought he wanted to just go get him a cigar, it was the longer drive that made me understand that he was actually intending to buy gas.
So on the ride to the gas station we have some light conversation discussing some of the friends of mine he haven't seen in a while...or in the first case the one who he recently was told that she got engaged.
So on the way back to the house he asked if I've noticed if some of my friends are struggling with the burden of student loans from college.....while I do not. Of course I know of people who of have student loans that they are working to pay off. As I said I don't and count that among the other blessings in my life. My father's reason for asking me about student loans was that he wanted to make it a point that I understood that me not having a student loan was by design on the part of him and my mother. He said that it was due to the fact that the idea of providing an education for ones' children was of the highest priority of a parent was ingrained into them. And they planned accordingly. He said that he knows they weren't the only ones to get the message and that just because there were those who weren't able to do the same for children didn't mean that they didn't love their kids any less. Again, something I had already figured out for myself.....sometime ago.
The next few things to come out his mouth was slightly surprising. He then told me that it was my duty to do the same for my children, if I ever have any. And if I don't then it's my duty to do it for my younger cousins, rather that means I help them with their undergraduate degrees or masters' or doctorate.
He said it would be my responsibility because when the members of his generation within the family are gone, I will be left as the patriarch of the family.
I think it kind of surprised us both after I told him that those were decisions I had already made for myself, when it we each realized that he and I were on the same page about something.
It also was a surprised to me that a few days later we were in the den getting a kick out of the movie "Easy A" particular since he had attempted to "bad mouth" me about the fact that I enjoy watching "The Golden Girls," to a friend of my parents.
Who know's maybe there's some hope for us.
Sincerely,
Pharoah
