The Move Update: A Vagabond Adventure - Night 1

Self,

So as I've mentioned in the post on 6/1/10 I've moved back in with my famiy, but virtually homeless. So after I got everything out of my old apartment and to my parents house on 5/31/10, I had to find a place to stay for the week, perferably somewhere in the San Fernando Valley (near Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys, even better) because I would be working in the area all week and the commute from my parents house to the office would have been murderous on me. SO luckily a friend of mine is in town from NYC trying to sell a house that he inherited a couple years ago that is ideally located for my needs this week. He agreed to let me stay...thankfully!

So I unload the last of my stuff at my parents, scramble to locate enough clothes that I'll need for the week, then drive to my friend's empty house in Valley Village. I arrive while he is out, but he left the front door unlocked for me and informed me which room I could claim. (Initially I was only going to just stay for two nights then I would move on, but we have since worked out me staying for the whole week.) I make myself as comfortable as possible in a house with no furniture. I eat the food I brought from my parents cold because there's no microwave, and use my cell to chat with Schehimazade. My friend, N-V (iN-the-Valley since I don't know many folks who are,) walks in with some guy who is not his boyfriend who I was told was still in New York. From phone conversations with N-V I know they went to Cheesecake Factory and a movie...looked like a date to me but who knows. N-V makes introductions and we chat a while. They go upstairs to bed and I go to "my" room. I get ready to shower before going to sleep. The shower is ice cold. Not what I wanted after a day of getting sweaty and funky from moving. I am in and out of the shower FAST. I climb into the sleeping bag I brought, shivering at 2am trying to get some sleep before needing to wake up at 6:30AM to go to work.

Sincerely,
Pharaoh
