Self,
I was pulled over last night and given a citation. Fortunately it's just a "fix-it" ticket because my headlight was out. I'll admit I was initially pissed about being pulled over because I was trying to get somewhere and was already slightly late.
When the officer explained wny he was pulling me over I was relieved and it went rather smoothly. I'm writing about it because it got me thinking about a recent discussion about karma I had with ScheHimazade.
He had recently read my post "Moral Conundrum" and the comment by Brainhhoney not being "sold" on the idea of karma because "too many great people suffer and too many assholes go unchecked."
Of course our conversation coincided with you hearing news updates of the tragedy in Jennifer Hudson's family. He suggested that he could see that Brainhoney would see the tragedy as an example of great people suffering. By no means was he belittling the tragedy, however he raised the question that maybe this incident was the result of someone else's karma. Maybe Jen's mother, her brother, or her sister. Hell maybe it's the sister's estrange husband. (I personally don't want to believe that a seven year old could have been so horrible a person to create such a catastrophe, so I feel he was an unfortunate victim. But really, you never know.)
To wrap up and bring this full circle - what about my fix it ticket? Could I have unwittingly done something wrong to deserve the ticket? Or could the fact that the officer pulled me over be someone else's karma and they may end up in an accident or something because this particular officer was occupied while writing me a ticket. Or maybe I'm just so splendid a guy and that's the reason it was only a fix it ticket versus something worse.
The Lesson here:
There isn't one really just something to think about.
Sincerely,
Pharaoh
