A Warm & Fuzzy Halloween

Self,

I'm keep this short but I have to share it.

I had an interesting experience this Halloween.

I decided to just stay home, I wasn't really feeling the idea of doing any of the big block parties. SO I just did my own thing...GOTTA love Netflix, I already had enough movies on han to entertain me for the evening.

Well This evening also included my "Str8-husband." His girlfriend was taking her children "trick or treating" and he wasn't going to participate, so he came to kick it with me.

So we walk a couple of block over from my place to and El Salvadorean place. We walk in there was a guy doing Karoke in Spanish. There was a table in the center of the room with four adults with 13 empty bottles of Modelo beer and two half empty bottles. At a nearby booth there were three or four kids laughing among themselves.

We place our orders and take a seat to wait, right behind the four adults. I am looking around, just observing the scene. Well I notice a couple of the adults in front of use kinda looking and snickering in our direction. After a while, the guy (yes it was 1 guy and three women) at the table in front of us. Gets our attention and says that the Karoke Guy was talking to us. Well of course we didn't under because he was speaking Spanish, so the guy told us what Karoke boy was saying.

Basically the guy was asking if we had any requests we wanted to hear. He explained that he didn't have a lot of English but he had a mix of oldies. Well we both were kind of at a loss for songs that Karoke Guy might have. But the everyone in the room was looking at us. Of course other people had walked in and were sitting at other booths. My "Str8-Husband" - [Bless his heart] - spoke up and said, "Got any Elvis."
I cringed.
The guy at the table withthe three women asked, "Elvis Prestley?"
The perplexed expression on the faces looking in our directions was too much for me, but all I could do was give into the laughter that errupted from me. Even the teenage at the "kiddie table" turn around to look at us. I kept laughing. It was infectous cause others started chuckling.
Karoke Guy said he didn't have any Elvis but had something that SOUNDED like Elvis. He played a video of some blonde guy who did kind of had a voice like Elvis.Well when the video was over my Str8-husband tried to fix it by sayin he thought that Karoke Guy was going to SING, so he thought Elvis might have been generic enough that Karoke Guy would have know the words to one song.
Well when Karoke Guy heard that my Str8-husband wanted him to actually sing he said he woudl play something that he would sing along to but didn't really know all the words, but he would do his best.
Well at this point our order was ready, but of course we couldn't just leave. So we waited for Karoke Guy to find the disc he wanted and start it. Two guys appeared on the screen on some stage with a guitar. My Str8-husband informed me that it was Simon and Garfunkel.
Well I discretely pull a couple dollars out of my wallet and pass them to my Str8-Husband and tell him to tip the guy when he finishes sing on the way out the door. He didn't think he needed to do that, and I explain that the man's effort to find some English songs and include us in the group had to be acknowledge. So before we left, that's what he did.
It wasn't anything major but it was a cool experience, it felt good that Karoke Guy did try to include us which gave the room a jovial spirit. It's a Halloween I won't soon forget.

Sincerely,
Pharaoh
