Self,
I know I posted once today but I had this thought that I wanted to get out.
I wonder if in the future will the Obama family be given the unofficial mantle of "royalty" like the Kennedy's?
I mean there have been some comparrisons made between JFK & Barak.

Well I hope for the best for Obama and from what I've learned in U.S. History, JFK was VERY popular among the American people. But I hope that Obama does not become a target (although inevitably he will), hopefully and prayerfully NONE of any possible attempts at an assassination is successful.
I hope we are on the same level of understanding in this post. What I see is like a comparison between the two and how both are very much alike and how the circumstances and conclusions could possibly be the same. Both of them have very apparent enemies or groups that do not like them.
You're right Xivinrah, the post is making a comparison between the two, but just the positive aspects. Their charisma, charm, class, likeability etc. You cant think to deeply about the negative, because you then start to give it power.
The Kennedy family was so well loved by the masses that they were almost the royal family of the US. That respect is still upheld with CA's Governor. It was argued that he won because he had the support of the Kennedy legacy through Maria Shriver....lol and I don't even know how she is related to JFK.
LOL of course, Arnold being a movie star himself also helped.
There's an expression I often use:
'When a new born baby arrives, the world gets one more chance.
I think youth gives new hope to people. Barack & John Kennedy inspired people with new ideas & new ways of seeing. They were both eloquent visionaries of their time, & seemed to articulate the concerns, issues and dreams of the (majority) of the Nation.
Maybe that's why the comparisons are drawn.
That said, unlike Kennedy, I pray that Barack lives long & prospers to make those dreams and ideas a stunning reality.
One.
I don't think the Obama's will ever get royal status. In part because of the color line, but more so because of the fact that the Kennedy's were a social institution. JFK's wedding was the event of the year, people watched what they did before they were in politics. In short their status as royalty was created and cemented by Kennedy fore fathers, on illegal liquor money, that allowed them to be in an elite position. Obama is the elitely talented man of the people. This difference is key to becoming royalty.
And the Kennedy legacy was created in an era when people liked having the idea of an American royal family, it was the golden age, of television, of movies , of socialites with sophistication. The average population was building up their heroes not tearing them down, this is a very different position of population than the one we live in now. Now people are built up in order to be brought down, not built up as a mark of what people can attain.
